History of Tartur

Around 735 years back, Raja Reddy from Tartur ended up marrying Rangamma, who came from Srirangapuram. She carried a wooden doll with her to Tartur one day, and it suddenly changed into a living man right there. Not long after that, Lord Ranganatha Swamy showed himself and explained that He planned to remain in Tartur forever to bring blessings upon the whole area. People in the region have kept up the tradition since then by constructing the temple and holding the Tirunala festival every single year, always with deep devotion
